Valerie Simpson

Valerie Simpson is an American singer-songwriter, born on August 26, 1945, in the Bronx, New York. Alongside her husband, Nick Ashford, she formed the renowned duo Ashford & Simpson, known for writing and producing numerous hit songs such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Solid," and "You're All I Need to Get By." Simpson has also been a successful solo artist and actress, appearing in films like The Bodyguard and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Valerie Simpson was born on August 26, 1946, in the Bronx, New York. She developed a passion for music at an early age and began her career as a singer, songwriter, and pianist. In 1964, she met Nickolas Ashford at the White Rock Baptist Church in Harlem, and they began their partnership, which would become one of the most successful songwriting duos in history.

Together, Ashford & Simpson wrote and produced numerous hit songs, including "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Solid," "You're All I Need to Get By," and "I'm Every Woman." They also released their own music, achieving success with songs like "Found a Cure" and "Solid."

Valerie Simpson has also worked as an actress, appearing in films like "The Bodyguard" and "Guardians of the Galaxy." She has won multiple awards for her work, including Grammy Awards and ASCAP Awards. Tragically, her husband Nickolas Ashford passed away in 2011, but Valerie continues to make music and perform, keeping their legacy alive.
