"Monaco is a place where people are raised and bred to be glamorous."
— Grace Kelly
The Principality of Monaco, just 200 hectares, has been a luxurious hotspot for high-rollers since the early 20th century. Ruled by Prince Albert II, it has over 32,000 residents, with 16% being Monégasques. Monaco features a stunning harbor, the glamorous Monte Carlo and hosts the famous Formula One Grand Prix, enhancing its allure.
Highlights
Monte Carlo Harbour
With the ability to accommodate some of the world's largest yachts, the Monte Carlo Harbour is a premier destination for luxury travelers and maritime enthusiasts. Take a stroll along the harbor and enjoy picturesque views, local markets and wonderful dining options. You can also visit the nearby Palais Princier (Prince’s Palace), the official residence of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco, although it’s not open to the public for tours.
Monaco Cathedral
Known for its stunning Romanesque architecture, this cathedral is the burial site of Grace Kelly and other members of the Grimaldi royal family. Completed in the early 20th century, the cathedral features beautiful white stones from La Turbie, intricate stained glass windows and a 16th-century altarpiece, making it a central symbol of Monaco's cultural and historical identity, as well as a venue for important royal events like weddings and christenings. It's a beautiful place to reflect and appreciate the local history.
Casino de Monte-Carlo
An iconic attraction and a symbol of Monaco’s glamor, Casino de Monte-Carlo offers a unique experience with its stunning Beaux-Arts design and rich history. Even if you’re not a gambler, it’s worth visiting to take in the vibrant atmosphere and explore its opulent interiors laden with frescoes, sculptures and its astonishing gold and marble atrium.
Oceanographic Museum
of Monaco
Located at the cliff’s edge, this museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the marine world, with exhibits featuring marine life, aquariums and interactive displays. For over 30 years, the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco was run by France’s most famous oceanographer, the world renowned Jacques Cousteau. Showcasing a remarkable collection of over 6,000 marine specimens and 350 fish species, the museum not only serves as an aquarium but also as a center for oceanographic research and conservation, hosting various exhibitions and educational programs that promote awareness and protection of marine environments.
Prince's Palace of Monaco
The Prince's Palace of Monaco is a historic and significant landmark located in Monaco, serving as the official residence of the Sovereign Prince. Originally built in 1191 as a Genoese fortress, it has undergone numerous transformations and expansions over the centuries, becoming a symbol of the Grimaldi family's enduring rule since they captured it in 1297. The palace reflects a unique blend of military architecture and royal residence, a necessity given Monaco's historical vulnerabilities to foreign powers.

Why I Love Monte Carlo
The crown jewel of our Somma – French Riviera sailing is a rare and exclusive overnight stay in the fabulously elegant Monte Carlo. The sparkling atmosphere of the Port Hercule, dotted with magnificent ultra-yachts, is a perfect spot for people-watching and daydreaming. One of my favorite things to do during the day in Monte Carlo is to sit and relax with friends at a wine bar and simply take in the refined beauty of the surroundings. Then….come nightfall, it is time to dress to the nines and visit the iconic Casino de Monte-Carlo! Whether you choose to try your hand at the tables or just admire the outsized opulence and feel the excitement of this historic venue…that is completely up to you! Monte Carlo captured my heart long ago–and it brings me profound joy to share this premier destination with our Somma guests.
