— John Keats

The Prince's Palace of Monaco is a historic and significant landmark located in Monaco, serving as the official residence of the Sovereign Prince. Originally built in 1191 as a Genoese fortress, it has undergone numerous transformations and expansions over the centuries, becoming a symbol of the Grimaldi family's enduring rule since they captured it in 1297. The palace reflects a unique blend of military architecture and royal residence, a necessity given Monaco's historical vulnerabilities to foreign powers.

Dave Koz - Why I Love...

Why I Love Monte Carlo

The crown jewel of our Somma – French Riviera sailing is a rare and exclusive overnight stay in the fabulously elegant Monte Carlo. The sparkling atmosphere of the Port Hercule, dotted with magnificent ultra-yachts, is a perfect spot for people-watching and daydreaming. One of my favorite things to do during the day in Monte Carlo is to sit and relax with friends at a wine bar and simply take in the refined beauty of the surroundings. Then….come nightfall, it is time to dress to the nines and visit the iconic Casino de Monte-Carlo! Whether you choose to try your hand at the tables or just admire the outsized opulence and feel the excitement of this historic venue…that is completely up to you! Monte Carlo captured my heart long ago–and it brings me profound joy to share this premier destination with our Somma guests.
