About
Jenny Langer is a powerhouse vocalist whose soulful voice channels the timeless spirit of legends like Etta James and Aretha Franklin, captivating audiences from smoky clubs to festival stages worldwide.
Born in California's Bay Area and now based in Nashville after 16 years in Washington DC, Jenny's journey reflects grit, resilience, and musical excellence. A Berklee College of Music graduate, she launched the award-winning band Moonshine Society in 2010, touring internationally and championing American roots music with fire and finesse.
In 2015, personal hardship struck when Jenny was diagnosed with cancer, followed by divorce. Rather than surrender, she channeled her pain into songwriting, creating "The One That Got Away"—a song that gave her the courage to record the album Sweet Thing with Moonshine Society. The album won the 2020 International Blues Challenge for Best Self-Produced CD and two Wammie Awards, establishing her as a force in contemporary roots music.
Simultaneously, Jenny toured as a member of The Ron Holloway Band, the funk-driven ensemble led by saxophonist Ron Holloway, a member of the Warren Haynes Band and Dizzy Gillespie Quintet.
A turning point came in 2022 when Jenny met Randy Jacobs and producer John Wooler. What began as a two-day recording session evolved into her joining The Boneshakers as lead singer—a 30+ year-old band whose high-voltage sound perfectly matched her raw intensity. Their debut together, One Foot In The Groove, shot to #1 on UK Blues radio and US Soul Blues radio charts, earning two Wammie Awards. Their latest album, Live to Be This (Gulf Coast Records), released July 2025, debuted on the Billboard Top 10 Blues chart and features an impressive roster of special guests including Charlie Musselwhite, Bobby Rush, Don Was, Coco Montoya, and Jimmy Carpenter—a testament to the band's respected standing in the roots music scene. In 2026, The Boneshakers earned a nomination for the UK Blues Awards for International Artist of the Year.
Throughout her career, Jenny has shared stages and studio sessions with blues and soul royalty, including Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Gov't Mule, Bobby Rush, Charlie Musselwhite, Bernard Fowler (The Rolling Stones), Coco Montoya, and Jason Ricci. She has also provided background vocals for Peabo Bryson, Valerie Simpson, Jonathan Butler, BeBe Winans, Maysa, and The Righteous Brothers.
A multi-Wammie winner, Virginia Blues Hall of Famer, and Women Who Rock Ambassador, Jenny Langer continues to light a fire under the soul of every listener with her timeless voice and unrelenting artistry.
